Behind the illustrations (1976 Panini Album) I...

Update (January 2014) More details on the illustrations in a new post

Following the publication of this album and a question on Flickr by Foxy Belle, I looked more closely... Where the Barbie Panini Album 1976 got its inspiration from...

You like the dolls, the fashion and the accessories ?

... Good news ! You'll find nearly all of them in the Mattel catalogues of the same year (1976)
or of the previous years (1974, 1975)

Let's see...
Hum ! I haven't found this outfit... Do you know it ?
Foxy Belle wanted to know if it was a Barbie Malibu...
Skipper, Barbie, Ken and Cara at the beach...
It could actually be Barbie Funtime (an European exclusivity ?)...

Sunset Malibu Christie...
#7745 (1973-1977)

Skipper wears Dungarees, red top from Best Buy #7222 and Barbie wears Blunt Geblümt #7204 (both 1975)

And even the garden furniture could be bought...
in 1976 !... I wish I had asked this for Christmas that year ! See here for the real thing... and here too for a close-up ...

Is Barbie wearing the Pink Sleep bathrobe ?
Not sure of this one...

One could have recreated that scene too...
With bedroom furniture and frilly nightie...

Only Barbie's outfit is exactly similar (shirt & shorts), it looks as if...
Barbie, Cara, Francie...
Cara's outfit which red flowery fabric can not be mistaken has a different shape top... And Francie's trousers aren't red but jeans...

Christie in Red flower print pants coordinates...

And the boys sport recognizable outfits... Curtis in the shirt he was sold in 1975 (white shorts replaced by jeans) and Ken in a jeans and jacket ensemble...

That's all Folks (for today...)

    1. Merciii !

  4. This is really interesting! I was wondering if you know the name of the Italian artist who drew the Barbie sticker album? I can't find him anywhere :-(
    Thank you

    1. Hello,

Sorry it is taking me a bit of time to get back to you. If you are thinking of the Italian illustrator Angelo Bioletto he hasn't actually drawn the 1976 Barbie Panini album but the 1978 Barbie Parade one... For 1976, it is a bit more complexed... I am looking into it and will let you know...

PS : please sign your Anonymous comments from now on on this blog with a letter + symbol of your choice at the end of your message as some do as it is difficult to know in a sea of Anonymous posts if we have talked before or not... If it is a follow-up of a previous conversation, etc. or if you are a brand new comer....

    1. Hello, did you just reply to yourself or did someone else reply to you ? it's confusing... I am ok with Anonymous comments - but please could you just sign with at least the same letter / symbol ? Like that I'll know if you come again... -
Angelo Bioletto did not sign the illustrations of the 1976 Barbie Panini album. He did however the Barbie Panini album of 1978 called Barbie Parade...
